As a local youth worker here in Peebles working with children and young people, schools and the local community; Kris has a first hand understanding of the important issues which effect many in our communities.
Kris will make an excellent Councillor and be a valuable addition to the Scottish Borders Council.
Armed with this knowledge, Kris is determined to stand up for local residents, providing opportunities for everyone, and the best start in life for Scotland's future generations.
His passion and values were built upon his own life experience living with cerebral palsy, facing a number of difficulties and overcoming those challenges.
Kris wants to ensure that no one is held back from fulfilling their potential.
During his time at University, Kris played an active role within the Student Association, as well as the National Union of Students Scotland.
He campaigned on a number of issues from student debt, college bursaries and against the discrimination of others.
After graduating in 2010, Kris worked for Subsea UK the Trade Body for Subsea Sector within the Oil and Gas Industry.
During his time Kris supported UK business develop international business opportunities in new markets.
In 2012 Kris was elected in a by-election by his peers within Aberdeen South and North Kincardine to represent young people aged 12-25 as a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament.
Over the next two years, Kris played an active role within the organisation, championing a number of issues of behalf of Scotland's young people, including; Votes at 16, equal marriage and support for young carers in Scotland.
Following his passion Kris undertook an opportunity to work with Children and Young People, brining him to the Scottish Borders, which he now calls home.
